Hailing from Seattle, Washington, Shenandoah Davis sort of sounds like Arcade Fire meets Sufjan Stevens meets a Broadway musical. There’s a ton of orchestration and brilliant songwriting but her vocal timbre is almost like sing/talking – kind of like a Disney movie. I don’t know, it’s actually really great and a refreshingly different combination of sounds to come out of the indie music genre. Joining the ranks of weird voices like the likes of Joanna Newsom (you know, the harpist who sort of sounds like Lisa Simpson), Davis might be your new favorite indie rocker you’ve never heard of.
