SNL-alums Bill Hader and Fred Armisen have teamed up to form a fictional Cracker Barrel-soul band called The Blue Jean Committee, and in true Kanye "cuz-our-lives-are-dope-and-we-do-dope-shit" fashion their debut EP Catalina Breeze isawesome. Releasedthrough Drag City, home to fuzz-deity Ty Segall and real life harp-playing, golden-haired angel of my dreams Joanna Newsom, the 4 song EP is available here. Citing the Eagles' documentary History of the Eagles as inspiration, the duo, backed by a band as breezy as they are hirsute, recently dropped the featherweight gem, light enough to waft into your ear canal like a lover's breathy advances.
Armisen and Hader have even made a documentary of their own, recounting the formation of the denim-clad soft cock rock group and the musical magic that followed ($1.99 on YouTube). Because Steely Dan ain't coming anytime soon, Hall & Oates have been hogging the yacht for far too long and, simply, because it's fucking hilarious, here's Blue Jean Committee's video for "Catalina Breeze."
