S'NUFF film

Nerd test: Rate your excitement level over the July lineup for Movies by Moonlight, Slab Cinema’s free weekly film-screening series in HemisFair Park. On Thursday, July 2, it’s Superman, followed by Rocky on July 9, Dr. Strangelove on July 16, Raiders of the Lost Ark on July 23, and Batman on July 30. If, like me, you finished reading while sitting in a combination of two different bodily fluids (free second-hand pair of pants to the first reader to guess which ones!), you could probably stand to put down the action figures and go outside for a while, just like your dad suggested. The movies start at 8:30 p.m. Keep your quoting to a minimum, please. If you’re too refined for the Batman-worshipping, trouser-soiling masses, you might opt for Texas Public Radio’s Cinema Tuesdays on July 7. The ongoing TPR fundraiser plans to screen this year’s Oscar-nominated short films, including Best Live Action Short “Toyland.” There’ll be lots of those highfalutin subtitles you monocle-polishers love, and the $12 ($10 for members) admission will keep out the ne’er do wells and film editors. Considering I would’ve just reenacted Superman’s “Can You Read My Mind?” scene all night anyway, you’ve made a wise decision, TPR.
