Last chance, guys: The third annual San Antonio Local Film Festival is accepting film submissions until Tuesday, September 15. The festival, in its third year, charges no entry fees, and this year they’ll be taking submissions in three categories — shorts, feature-length films, and films produced by amateur filmmakers, age 17 or younger. Films must have been produced within the calendar year by Bexar County residents. Get an entry form at salfilmfest.com and send those submissions to:

If you’d rather be in somebody else’s movie, Epic, a feature film written and directed by Charles Burmeister (“Interview,” “Columbus Day”) and scheduled to begin shooting in Texas and Mexico this fall, is currently casting. Though plum roles like “raw dog” Mitch and “The Captain” have already been filled, many male and female parts for various ages and ethnicities are still available. Got to epicmotionpicture.blogspot.com for more information, or send a headshot and resume to epicmotionpicture@gmail.com. I hope you get it. I hope you get it.
