Do you love speed? Are you a fan of kicking cancer to the curb? Are craft cocktails your jam? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you'll want to pencil this one into your calendar.

Speed Rack, a national competition that pits female bartender against each other in a contest of efficiency and quickness will make its return to San Antonio this January 12 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the St. Anthony Hotel (300 E. Travis St.). Proceeds from tickets ($20 in advance and $25 at the door) are used to fund breast cancer research and education.

Also of note, two former Speed Rack Texas winners — Elisabeth Forsythe of Barbaro and Hot Joy and Zulcoralis Rodriguez of Esquire Tavern — will face off along with 16 other contestants from across the state (and a bonus out-of-state competitor). Janessa Flowers of Barbaro, Hillary Woodhouse of Esquire Tavern, and Elyse Blechman formerly with the Boulevardier Group and now with Captain Foxheart's Bad News Bar & Spirit Lodge in Houston will also be competing for a chance to qualify for Speed Rack Nationals in New York City slated for May 22, 2016.

During the competition, bartenders are tasked with making four classic cocktails (two shaken, two stirred) in as little time as possible; taste errors mean points are added to their total time.
