Planned Commitment Ceremony Turns Into New Braunfels' First Official Same-Sex Wedding Ceremony

  • Everlasting Elopements

High school acquaintances Samantha Triana and Alyssa Solano re-connected on Valentine’s Day in 2011 and fell madly in love. Last year, they decided to book a commitment ceremony with Everlasting Elopements, Texas’ premier small wedding specialists. Little did they know that when they chose Friday, June 26, for their special day, that the U.S. Supreme Court would legalize same-sex marriage nationwide with a historic 5-4 decision.

Triana and Solano were the first couple to be legally wed in Comal County. The ceremony, officiated by Reverend Audi Henry, took place in front of a hundred friends and family members at Castle Avalon in New Braunfels.
