Don't hang up the crying Lebron cut-outs yet. The City is hosting a much-deserved bash for our fabulous home and their fifth NBA Championship. To celebrate the Spurs, a river parade begins at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 18, and fans can claim prime viewing spots along the river starting at 4:00 p.m. We know it it won't be hard to dig deep to make the party last.
If you recall from the previous four champion blowouts, a train of riverboats will carry the NBA Championship team, along with coaches, staff, city officials, Spurs veterans, musical performers and more from the Arneson River Theater, past River Center, and to the Navarro Street Bridge. A wild celebration at the Alamodome follows with doors opening at 4:30 p.m. If you forego the River Parade, arrive to the Alamodome early as the parade, along with playoff highlights, will be broadcast on televisions through the space. At 9:00 p.m., the team will show off their championship trophy with a few triumphant words to close the season.
Paid parking is available near the Riverwalk and Alamodome, but the City encourages fans to use the VIA park and ride service departing from the AT&T Center to reach the downtown festivities safely.
And of course, the whole affair will be streamed live at spurs.com.
