The Juice returns to the AT&T Center Tuesday night when former Spurs super-sub Jonathon Simmons and the Orlando Magic make their only regular season appearance in San Antonio. Simmons signed a well-deserved three-year, $20 million deal with the Magic over the summer, completing a storybook ascension via the NBA’s development league, now known as the G League. The Juice has flourished in Orlando, more than doubling his scoring average to almost 14 points per game, and hanging a season-high 34 points against King James and the Cavs in February. After a brutal Rodeo Road Trip that resulted in only two wins for the Spurs, Coach Pop and his charges face the most difficult schedule in the league down the stretch. Like 19-year-old Tony Parker before him, sophomore point guard Dejounte Murray continues to mature before our eyes on an almost nightly basis. Murray’s development could be critical for San Antonio as they look to hold court for a post-season run.
