Star Wars And Ice Cream: A Cool Combination

With the Spurs knocked out of the playoffs and Blue Bell off of the shelves for the foreseeable future, this is a pretty bad time for getting buckets in San Antonio. As the city's citizens are preparing for the area's inevitable summer heat waves, the shutdown of the ice cream giant has led to a case of Blue Balls for all of us.

Thankfully, the folks at Amy's Ice Creams at the Quarry Market (255 E Basse Road, 210-832-8886) have found a way to help relieve us from the heat and make it seem as if we were in a cool galaxy far, far away.

On June 6, Amy's Ice Creams, alongside the Lightsaber Knights, will be hosting their fourth annual Star Wars themed ice cream event. Taking place between 4:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., the event will feature not only lightsaber displays by the knights themselves, while also featuring discount on ice cream flavors for those in costume.

The flavors include: Yoda's Swamp (mint ice cream and fudge with a whipped cream swirl); Boba Fett's Bounty (mint ice cream with Oreos, chocolate-covered almonds and chocolate chips); Chewie Wookie Cookie (chocolate ice cream with homemade double chocolate chip cookies); Death Star Crunch (dark chocolate with Little Debbie Star Crunch); Sands of Tattooine (malted ice cream with brown sugar and pecan sandies); Jawa Junk Pile (coffee ice cream with Heath, Oreos and Biscoff cookies); and the Ewok Party (mint chip ice cream with chocolate and/or chocolate chip Teddy Grahams).

Make sure not to come Han Solo. There will be fun for all ages. So bring your kids. Bring your secret twin sisters, or even your Wookies.
