Stay Current with the Pick of the Day: Jingle Bells, Batman Smells

Jingle Bells

Although she’s written more than a dozen memorable middle-grade novels, award-winning author Barbara Park is best known for her children’s series following zany bespectacled first-grader Juniper Beatrice “Junie B.” Jones. Timed with the holiday season, the Magik reprises its production of Allison Gregory’s theatrical adaptation of Park’s Jingle Bells, Batman Smells! (P.S. So Does May). Set in the classroom of Mr. Scary, the play revolves around a Christmas pageant Junie B. and her arch frenemy Tattletale May could easily spoil with a rivalry that dates back to a disastrous Columbus Day play. Threatened by yet another trip to the principal’s office the girls call an iffy truce, but all bets are off when its time for Secret Santas. $9-$10; 9:45am and 11:30am Tue, Nov 27; The Magik Theatre, 420 S Alamo, (210) 227-2751, Check out our full online calendar of upcoming events here:
