Stay Current with the Pick of the Day: Paleface

Short of being born onstage during a Townes Van Zandt concert, or giving Roky Erikson his first hit of acid, you don’t get much better Texas music cred than Paleface’s pedigree. Meeting Daniel Johnston in 1989, the revered singer-songwriter showed young Paleface the ropes and helped him cut his first homemade recordings. Nearly 25 years on, Paleface continues to uphold the confessional lo-fi folk sound so synonymous with his mentor and honed across a catalog almost two dozen releases deep. He’s also put together an impressive contact sheet over those years, playing live alongside the likes of Billy Bragg, The Breeders, The Moldy Peaches, and Regina Spektor. Touring with his wife/drummer Mo Samalot and guitarist Soren Mattson, Paleface plays the 502 in support of 2010’s One Big Party. With Lonely Horse. Free, 9:30pm Wednesday, 502 Bar, 502 Embassy Oaks, (210)-257-8125, Check out our full online calendar of upcoming events here:
