There is a sweetness to those final stolen minutes of sleep, when your rational mind knows you should be moving toward work, and yet a deeper communion tugs like a narcotic. Nothing could be richer, you think — until your mouth closes around Bistro Bakery’s dream-inducing confectioner’s sugar-laden almond croissant. The French outpost off the Olmos Park turnabout takes few of the shortcuts higher-volume outfits do, meaning no skimping on the butter or elevating almond paste. Though crusty-eyed, you’ll feel invulnerable to the day — at least as long as you’re still masticating.
