Teatro Auduaz
Call it a Latinx take on the story of an existential mid-life crisis. Chimichangas and Zoloft is one of three performances comprising “Nuestras Voces,” a series of staged readings held in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Chimichangas is presented by Teatro Audaz (meaning audacious theater), a local company that’s been around for just over a year now. Penned by Fernanda Coppel and directed by Holly Nanes, the play follows Sonia, who suffers “from a profound sense of disappointment after her 40th birthday.” Chimichangas explores the “search for happiness and the mysteries of sexuality” as Sonia embarks on a bender of, you guessed it, chimichangas and Zoloft, while her teenage daughter seeks to bring her home with help from a friend.
