When: Thu., Jan. 19, 6-10 p.m. 2017
At its inaugural Texas Star Heritage Gala, the UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures will recognize individuals and organizations whose work champions diversity, preserving heritage and educating the community. The museum has named a local honoree, a regional honoree, and a business or organization honoree, selected in a competitive process by a panel of civic and business leaders. The inaugural honorees are: G.P. Singh (a member of the San Antonio Sikh community); Janie Barrera (founding president and CEO of LiftFund); and Our Community, Inc. (a consulting firm whose business mentality equates economic and leadership development with social responsibility). Funds raised at the Texas Star Heritage Gala will benefit the museum's Texan Fund. This will give gala attendees an opportunity to play a key role at the Institute of Texan Cultures, by preserving the diverse stories and cultures of Texas.
