Combining the elements of math rock, nu-emo and...ska?, Thank You Scientist manages to pull off what could otherwise easily become a trainwreck. Djent-y drum hits carry swelling saxophones as singer Salvatore Marrano delivers a poppy melody, bringing about a fucking weird but interesting blend of experimental art rock. At one point, the band channels old Incubus before immediately slamming into a math rock break. It’s confusing and exciting and I’m not sure if I like it but it’s sure as hell not boring.
