The Alamo on Film: Fact, Fiction, Fantasy

When: Mon., Oct. 1, 7-8:30 p.m. 2018

Curated by George Cisneros, October’s episode of Hidden Histories examines a long tradition of Alamo cinema, exploring how the story and iconography of the Alamo has shaped the way we view a complex and centuries long regional history. This episode will feature three prominent cultural commentators discussing five significant Alamo films: filmmaker Jimmy Mendiola on 'Viva Max,' Nathan Cone of TPR’s Cinema Tuesdays on 'Martyrs of the Alamo,' 1960's 'The Alamo,' and 2004's 'The Alamo.' The event will also have Express News columnist Elaine Ayala on Joseph Tovares's PBS documentary discuss 'Remembering the Alamo.'
