When: Sat., July 22, 8 p.m. 2017
Take some Joy Division and stir until frothy. Add a pinch (perhaps two, fuck it) of Velvet Underground and a dangerous dash of The Strokes. Combine with a fuzzy and patient take on post-punk and some lo-fi, mid-aughts indie pop for good measure. Bake (or rather: get baked) and enjoy. This, essentially, is the recipe for the heady and delectable sound of relatively new local act The Ghost In The Machine. In less than a year of existence, the band has played a ton of shows and dropped the endlessly listenable Cold Coffee and Stale Cigarettes EP (which you can listen to here: tgitmofficial.bandcamp.com). On Saturday, aided by other rad SA acts St. Dukes, Ellis Rendon, and Harvey McLaughlin, The Ghost In The Machine will present its debut long player. Here’s to hard-working young bands that actually believe in releasing music!
