The Guadalupe's 30th Birthday Party featuring Los Lobos & Bombasta

Critic's Pick Release Date: 2010-09-22

The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center celebrates its 30th in style with an outdoor concert featuring triple-Grammy-winning, East L.A.-based Chicano rockers Los Lobos, with support from SA’s own nine-piece, genre-defying, urban Spanglish ensemble Bombasta. Consider arriving early (around 7pm) to stake out some blanket real estate in the plaza (sorry, no chairs allowed) and grab a cold one before the masses arrive. Sure, we’re excited to hear tunes from Wolf Tracks – Best of Los Lobos and this year’s Tin Can Trust, but we’re not so secretly hoping they’ll also treat us to a dose of accordion-fueled nostalgia in the form of “Bare Necessities” (from 2009’s Los Lobos Goes Disney). If you’ve got the cash, GCAC’s B-Day dinner promises to be (even more of) a night to remember. Gala dinner: $150 (includes cocktails in the courtyard, dinner in the theater, and private seating for the concert), 6pm, Guadalupe Theater, 1301 Guadalupe, reserve by calling (210) 271-3151 x 233. Concert only: $20, 8pm, Plaza Guadalupe, 1327 Guadalupe St.,
