Critic's Pick Release Date: 2010-11-23

The variations of the original storyline are endless, but typically follow the ballet classic’s illustrious narrative. Customarily, young German protagonist Clara dreams she wages war with a Mouse King, her broken nutcracker is transformed into a fully functioning German Prince, and she is subsequently greeted by dancing snowflakes and an array of sweet treats. Clara is left to wonder if all she had witnessed was a dream after all. Ballet San Antonio and the San Antonio Symphony join their brilliant forces to deliver this enchanting tale of holiday magic. $11.75-$61.75 (50% discount for children under 12), 7pm Fri, Nov 26, 2pm & 7pm Sat Nov 27, 2pm Sun, Nov. 28, 7pm Fri, Dec 3, 2pm & 7pm Sat, Dec 4, 2pm Sun, Dec 5, The Majestic Theatre, 224 E Houston St, (210) 226-3333, balletsanantonio.org, ticketmaster.com. — Kristine Duran
