Wednesday, November 14, marks the fourth anniversary of Luna Fine Music Club (6740 San Pedro Ave.), a non-smoking venue created primarily to provide a comfortable, listener-friendly environment for live jazz, in all its various forms. Over the last four years, Luna’s emphasis has shifted (or expanded) to include standup-comedy nights and music that ranges from R&B (Planet Soul) to Latin soul (Sexto Sol) to singer-songwriter fare (Matt Barker, Wendy Colonna).
The club’s anniversary coincides with a return to activity after shutting down for remodeling in October. Coincidentally, the anniversary night celebration will be spearheaded by Herb-n-Cafe, a collective that recently underwent some personnel remodeling of its own. Formed by singer-percussionist Jai Lopez as a live-music/DJ hybrid connecting Latin grooves with hip-hop, the current lineup features Lopez, with formidable producer-musician Mark Rubinstein on keyboards, and Luna founder Marcos Treviño on guitar, a job previously held by his brother Carlos.
Herb-n-Cafe kicks off the Luna anniversary show at 9 p.m. Cover is $5. Call (210) 804-2433 for more details.
