Local favorite Ernest Gonzales wears many hats: educator, creative DJ, innovative electronic-music producer, record-label entrepreneur (Exponential Records), and unabashed, crush-a-lot blogger. On Saturday, February 23, he’ll add pajama-party host to this formidable list.

Gonzales has organized a Pajama Party gig at Ruta Maya (107 E. Martin) in which attendees will pay a $5 cover, but only $3 if they’re rocking PJs. He will be joined by Mnolo and Daecos.

The gig will be a kind of warmup for Gonzales’ latest project, an Exponential compilation of Texas electronic artists called Wait til the Ice Melts, set for a March 25 release. The 14-track disc includes Mnolo’s “Guerra Futbol” and Gonzales’ “Caviar, Cigarettes, Dynamite & Laserbeams.” The Ruta Maya gig runs from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. …

Snowbyrd’s video for the song “Ram” recently debuted on You Tube and it’s a fitting tribute to late Taco Land owner Ram Ayala. The clip, directed by Ian Tyler Ibarra and edited by Ibarra and Adriana Garcia, is a mix of Snowbyrd live footage, on-the-road verité moments, and interview excerpts with Ayala taken from Laura Escamilla’s 1999 Taco Land documentary.
