Valentine’s weekend should be especially exciting for rustic SA quartet Hacienda, which will back up Black Keys guitarist-singer Dan Auerbach on Late Night With Conan O’Brien on Friday, February 13. Auerbach has been a strong advocate for Hacienda’s music, even inviting them to record their debut album at his Akron, Ohio, studio. For his current tour — to promote Keep It Hid, his Nonesuch Records solo debut — Hacienda will pull double duty as opening act and Auerbach’s backing band. Their tour will wind down next month with a series of shows at SXSW.

Buttercup will spend Valentine’s Day looking for love at FARM (311 Howard St.), an intimate recording studio/art space where they’ll play two shows for approximately 40 of their devotees. The band has been stockpiling tracks in Dallas with Salim Nourallah, and based on the two samples we’ve heard (“I Am a Tiger” and “Consensus Chalice”), this is some of the freshest, most spontaneous material the band has yet recorded. Their FARM shows (with special guest Kevin Higginbotham) are set for Saturday, February 14, at 7 and 10 p.m. Tickets are $12, with beer and wine included. They can be purchased thru Paypal at:
