The Sound & The Fury

Egshan — Nick Pacheo on vocals/guitar/keys, brother Rickey on bass, and Robert Luna on drums, a local self-proclaimed “bar-rock in baroque times” kind of band — spent nine months recording the fine Full Time Daydreamer at SA’s the Farm, and will celebrate with a show Saturday at Rock Bottom Tattoo Bar (1033 Avenue B, $5, 18+). Their set starts at midnight, but they’ll share the night with Rumi Ocean; Yes, Inferno; and Helotes’s the Rafiki Project.

Wanna play at Austin City Limits ’09 (October 2-4)? You still might have a chance. Your band has until August 28 to upload music in the virtual Sound and the JuryBattle of the Bands ( Top 5 finalists get $1,500 and the winner takes all: a slot at ACL’s Dell Stage.

This is how it works: Through August 28 you need enough votes to make it into the top 100 bands; from that group, a panel of industry experts will choose 20, and then another popular vote will decide the top five. On September 30 at Austin’s Antone’s, the top five will slug it out, and both judges and fan votes will determine who plays at ACL.

So, hurry, and good luck.
