The sound & the fury

Two questions: Did you know Best Buy sells musical instruments? And who gives a rat’s ass? You do, kind of, if you’re into supporting the local music scene. The blue-and-yellow big box is joining forces with Epiphone Guitars and Local 782 to bring weekly acoustic in-store performances by local musicians to their location at 125 NW Loop 410, beginning 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, with Melissa Ludwig Band and Ashlee Rose, and continuing every Wednesday through September 8. Go to facebook.com/local782 for a full schedule. You don’t have to buy anything, but the employees will still probably try to scare you into purchasing an extended-service warranty.

Also this week: Wednesday: Ill Prospekt and Deer Vibes open for Octopus Project at the White Rabbit (see the Calendar section for show info). Dancelikerobots join Johnny Walker and LeDoom for Limelight’s I Heart Wednesdays (free; 2718 N. St. Mary’s). Thursday: Daytes make a final stop at the Ten Eleven ($5; 1011 Ave. B) before leaving on their California tour. Doors open at 8 p.m., and Buho, Wunderland, and We the Granada are also on the bill. Friday: Load up on traditional German music and grub at Beethoven Maennerchor’s Gartenkonzert ($5; 422 Pereida). Saturday: Grasshopper Lies Heavy join forces with Austin’s Pack of Wolves at Nightrocker Live (605 San Pedro; (210) 265-3573).
