- "We are the robots, boop-boop-be-doop."
Pioneers of what only seem like incredibly simple blips and bloops, KRAFTWERK are widely considered the fathers of krautrock, the German maestros of minimalist electronic computer music.
Originally formed by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider after meeting at the Robert Schumann Hochschule, throughout the '70s, '80s and '90s the duo, along with a rotating cast of guest musicians, were on the forefront of electronic music, utilizing vocoder and computer-speech programs to create brilliantly simplistic tunes that celebrated human achievements, from the simplistic (the bicycle) to the extraordinary (the computer and international train travel).
KRAFTWERK will be performing a live multimedia 3-D show at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts on Monday, September 12 at 8 p.m. Tickets are priced at $55 and $75, go on sale Friday, April 29 at 10 a.m. and can be obtained via box office (100 Auditorium Circle), by calling (210) 223-8624 or at tobincenter.org.

- Duran Duran, circa 2016.
Often lumped into the same sissy-wave category as Flock of Seagulls and Dead Or Alive, Duran Duran rose to prominence on the backs of little-sister-favorites "Hungry Like the Wolf," "Rio" and "The Wild Boys." Their diet rock dance jams have held up slightly better than the aforementioned new wave groups, positioning the group closer to serious electronic acts like OMD and Depeche Mode. Either way, whether you love them or hate them, the group has staying power, releasing Paper Gods in 2015, a record that features guest performances from Nile Rodgers and Janelle Monáe.
With hits like "Come Undone" and "Ordinary World," the British band got their hooks into much of the electronic art scene of the '80s and they'll be bringing that cooler-than-Bananarama-but-not-quite-The-Cure catalog to the Tobin on Tuesday, September 6 at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased online at tobincenter.org, via phone (210) 223-8624 and at the Tobin Center Box Office. Tickets are $69.50, $119.50, $164.50 and $225.
