When interior designer San Juanita Preciado bought this stylish Dignowity Hill property in a 2018 city auction, it was so badly water damaged that the hardwood floors were pretty much the only thing salvageable.

However, after a year and three months of renovations that included taking the four-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath home down to the sheetrock, Preciado transformed it into a colorful charmer with an inviting front porch, beautiful millwork and lots of details true to its 1940 vintage.

The centerpiece, however, is its kitchen and dining area, which boasts a newly installed coffered ceiling with dramatic wooden beams and inlays of contrasting lighter wood. The custom cabinetry includes both glass fronts and stamped-metal accents.

The house, now on the market for $468,5000, is Perciado's third Dignowity Hill renovation. She said she'd like to stay in the neighborhood, but inexpensive properties in need of a makeover are getting harder to find.

This home is listed by Pedro Sierra with Coldwell Banker.
