Toyota's 'Farm to Table Tour' stopping by Pearl Farmers Market

When I think “farmers market,” the first thing that pops into my mind is not “hybrid vehicles.” However, Toyota is trying to plant the seed in your foodie brain by bringing their Farm to Table Tour — now criss-crossing the country — to San Antonio’s most popular open-air market.

Toyota will invade the weekly farmers market at the Pearl Brewery this Saturday, armed with giveaways. Local chefs from Lüke, The Cove, Citrus, La Gloria, Las Canarias, the Culinary Institute, and Bin 555 will be cooking with ingredients from the farmer’s market.

The Pearl Farmers Market is crowded enough on a typical Saturday, so expect this one to be bursting at the seams. Of course, Toyota Prii, Camrys, and Highlanders will be taking up prime real estate. Test drive one and earn yourself a free cutting board in the process (possibly made from recalled Toyo parts). If you do take one for a spin, I’d suggest seeing how many reusable bags full of organic kale and lettuce you can fit in the trunk (thinking of the Mini Cooper’s “Cram It In The Boot” commercial now).

You’ll also get a free potted herb plant from the Toyota Mobile Garden, which is stocked by vendors at the market.
