Works from the McNay’s collection and on loan that explore themes of immigration, memory, and the meaning of home complement La Playa Negra I (Tar Beach I), a woodcut print by Antonio Martorell. Martorell uses imagery that relates to his childhood memories of living in Puerto Rico and hearing stories about or reading correspondence between his family there, and those who had immigrated to New York.
