Twitter users just can't stop trashing Ted Cruz

“Here’s the thing you have to understand about Ted Cruz,” former Democratic senator Al Franken once wrote. “I like Ted Cruz more than most of my other colleagues like Ted Cruz. And I hate Ted Cruz.”

And that was before Cruz, Texas' junior senator, led an effort to reject Joe Biden's legitimate win of the presidential election by raising widely debunked claims of widespread fraud. Many argue the Cruz's effort helped fan the flames of the attack on the U.S. Capitol by armed Trump supporters.

Now people really hate Ted's guts.

To be sure, they've been taking to Twitter to express just how badly they want to see him resign or be expelled from the Senate. From San Antonio U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro to actor Seth Rogen, folks are unloading on Cruz's smug, smirking face with both barrels of their social media accounts.

No, Cruz probably won't resign no matter how much online abuse people hurl his way. But we can always hope some of those Twitter users with strong opinions also happen to be Texas voters willing to show up to the polls when he's up for reelection in 2024.
