Vanity Theft, Hunter Valentine, Heather Go Psycho

Critic's Pick Release Date: 2011-02-09

“We have vaginas, but we’re not pussies,” says Vanity Theft’s bassist Lalaine Paras, once a child star in Disney’s Lizzie McGuire (she was Hilary Duff’s best friend). The Ohio riot-grrrl revivalists (Paras, guitarist Brittany Hill, keyboardist/vocalist Alicia Grodecki, and drummer Elyse Driskill) have just released their second full-fledged album, Get What You Came For (Vigilante Music/Adamant Records), which is enjoyable if what you’re looking for is hooks everywhere and girls bitching about the wrong man. But their live performances (especially those on 2009’s Warped Tour) are the reason they’ve earned a reputation for taking no prisoners. They’ve had three major national tours since then, and by the time they get to San Anto they should be in strong shape. They play with SA’s all-female punk trio Heather Go Psycho and Canada’s Hunter Valentine, still touring behind 2010’s Lessons From The Late Night. $8, 9:30pm Fri, Feb 11, The Korova, 107 E Martin, (210) 226-5070.
