Who in Antiquity Read the Bible?

When: Wed., Jan. 20, 6-7 p.m. 2016

The Trinity University Religion Department will host the 2016 Lennox Seminar Series. This year’s series, entitled “(Re)Inventing the Bible,” looks closely at how communities throughout history have created and recreated their bibles, and how the constantly shifting nature of authoritative texts, collections, and interpretations forces us to reconsider what we mean when we talk about “The Bible.” On Wednesday, January 20th Professor Michael Satlow of Brown University will deliver the opening lecture: “Who in Antiquity Read the Bible?” Professor Satlow is the author of several books, including Creating Judaism (2006), and How the Bible Became Holy (2014).
