This student-produced play isn’t your typical, run-of-the-mill musical. Sure, it has a young cast weighing their options over “selling out” or staying true to themselves, but the journey to adulthood was never an easy one, right? Tick, tick … BOOM! is the autobiographical account of Tony-award-winning composer and playwright Jonathan Larson, of Rent fame. The play centers on Jon, an aspiring composer living in New York City in 1990, his girlfriend Susan, and Jon’s friend Michael. The three deal with balancing personal and professional relationships, economic classes, HIV awareness, and, of course, discovering personal identity. Tick, tick … BOOM! is the first student-run, full-length musical to hit the stage of the Attic Theatre. The production is entirely run by students, from the director to the orchestra, and should be very interesting to check out. Plus, it’s free — and you really can’t go wrong with that. 8pm, Mar 28-29, and Apr 2-5, Attic Theatre @ Trinity University, 1 Trinity Place, (210) 635-3412,
