What’s not to love in a play about a witch doctor — that’s the idea behind Johnny Gets Sick, a show written by John Poole and directed by Kathleen Lovejoy playing at the Overtime Theater. In this satire, no one in the medical community is safe from ridicule. Johnny Jose attempts to become a doctor of the alternative sorts and along the way he makes fun of doctors, lawyers, insurance agents, patients, and Al Gore just for kicks. The story unfolds in the styles of Shakespeare, Moliere, Mel Brooks, Chuck Jones, and the Marx Brothers. Come for the laughs and slapstick humor in this one-act play — parting from it will be such sweet sorrow. $5-9 (Thursdays are dice-nights — what you roll is what you pay), Thur-Sat 2:30pm, Sun 2:30pm, through June 8, Overtime Theater, 1216 West Ave., (210) 380-0326,
