Leaders in the sculpture world come together to discuss the current state of international contemporary sculpture in a free public symposium. Sculpture Magazine editor Glenn Harper is a featured speaker, joined on the podium by art patron and curator Dr. Angelika Jansen-Brown and sculptor Bill FitzGibbons, who is also the executive director of Blue Star. Other featured guests include Markus Wirthmann, a visiting sculptor from Berlin, Jesus Moroles, a sculptor well-known for his work with granite, and James Surls, a sculptor who has been active for decades both in Texas and nationally. Local sculptors Jose Chapa, Will Larson, Ken Little, Katie Pell, George Schroeder, and Bob Wade will also sit in on discussion panels. Various topics will be explored — subjects range from Sculpture in the Material World, presented by Harper, and Berlin/Texas, a presentation by Jansen-Brown on a possible trans-Atlantic collaboration. Free, 2-5:30pm, Sat Jun 28, Blue Star Contemporary Art Center, 116 Blue Star, (210) 227-6960.
