Even if you’ve seen Tom Petty a handful of times, don’t let his Summer Tour turn into a mere blip on your arena-rock radar. Evidenced by an electrifying halftime performance during Super Bowl XLII in February, Petty and his exemplary Heartbreakers just might be hitting their musical stride after a three-decade, roots-rocking run. Since Petty has no new album to support, he’s free to drag out the gems on this tour and concert reviews are glowing. He can bust out of the gates with chart toppers like “Last Dance With Mary Jane,” “I Won’t Back Down,” and “Free Falling” and still roll out with the hit parade. Get there early, because opening act Steve Winwood seals the deal with solo hits and faves from his psychedelic days with warhorse Traffic. He’ll also lead The Heartbreakers in a killer rendition of “Can’t Find My Way Home” — we’re sold. $36-101, 7pm, Verizon Amphitheater, 16765 Lookout Rd., (210) 224-9600.
