By semi-jokingly attempting to be the world’s worst band, Green Jelly differentiates itself from all those horrible bands that aren’t so self-aware. Combining juvenile humor, minimal musical ability, and guitar riffs shamelessly plagiarized from Black Sabbath and Motorhead, Green Jelly’s music is actually more original and enjoyable (or at least louder and stranger) than the soulless, generic sludge shat out by actual world’s-worst-band contenders like Nickelback and Good Charlotte. Like the lime-flavored Jell-O for which the band was originally named before receiving a cease-and-desist from Kraft foods, Green Jelly appeals only to a certain taste, but at least the band’s got flavor. The band is probably best known for Cereal Killer — a video album featuring “Three Little Pigs,” a revisionist children’s story with a weed-toking porker and a cameo from Rambo, and the title track, which follows Toucan Son of Sam as he violently murders competing breakfast-food mascots. Expect these and other equally ridiculous songs in concert, along with costumes, food fights, and acts of pointless destruction. Bring the kids, and feel free to insert your own “always room for Jell-O” and/or Bill Cosby gag here. $10, all ages. 8pm, Sat, Nov 15, Rock Bottom Tattoo Bar, 1033 Ave. B, (210) 224-4005, myspace.com/rockbottomtattoobar.
