In collaboration with Catherine Cisneros and the Urban-15 Group, Jump-Start presents “My Body, My House,” a new dance performance by choreographer, dancer, and teacher Leonard Cruz. Born in Pampanga, the Philippines, Cruz grew up in San Antonio and started dancing at the age of 4 — he has since performed with Robert Wilson, Kei Takei’s Moving Earth, Shapiro and Smith Dance, Sally Silvers, and Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane and Co., among others. The performance reflects our human desire to shape feelings, ideas, and images with an aesthetic sensibility, threading itself through the fabric of personal, social, cultural, and religious traditions. Cruz will transform his state of being from evil to good in a dance solo, in addition to performing the Indonesian Makapit “Asmarandana: The Fire of Passion,” a poem that is usually sung. $16 general, $12 students, 8pm Friday & Saturday, January 9 & 10, Jump-Start Performance Co., 108 Blue Star, (210) 227-5867.
