SOLI Chamber Ensemble takes the stage for the third time this season with guest artist Allison Garza on flute. Michael Torke’s vigorous and rhythmic Telephone Book reduces alphabetical order to a feeling of activity and gradual change, while George Crumb’s Voice of the Whale, originally scored for three masked players on flute, cello, and piano, evokes seagulls, ocean waves, and whale calls. The work calls for deep-blue stage lighting, and the masks represent the powerful impersonal forces of nature. $15, 7:30pm, Blue Star, 116 Blue Star, (210) 227-6960.
