Downtown San Antonio was transformed into the Wild West last Saturday, as more than 35 Longhorn cattle sauntered down Houston Street to herald the arrival of the annual Stock Show and Rodeo. Ginobili, Parker, Duncan, and the rest of the Spurs are headed for a long stretch as road warriors (until February 24th) as bull riding, calf scrambles, and swine sprints take over their home court when the dusty Rodeo rolls into town. Though we don’t pretend to be all-Western, all the time at the Current (er, some of us occasionally wear cowboy boots) we can appreciate the fact that country and Americana music is bigger and better in Texas. So check out the schedule of performers and events at sarodeo.com and plan your Rodeo time accordingly. The party kicks off with a performance by Pat Green on Thursday, and other performers include Taylor Swift (right), Darius Rucker, Gary Allan, Montgomery Gentry, Switchfoot, and more. Feb 5-22, AT&T Center, sarodeo.com, ticketmaster.com.
