Join some of the city’s most talented artists, writers, and performers in a night that promises the finest in puro San Anto culture. Local writer Barbara Renaud Gonzalez kicks off the event with excerpts from her upcoming novel, Golondrina, why did you leave me?, the first Chicana fiction to be published by UT press, under the Chicana Matters imprint. The reading will be accompanied by “la reina del acordeón,” Eva Ybarra, the undisputed queen of Tex-Mex conjunto accordion, who is distinguished by her fluid, fast style and a unique loyalty to her cultural traditions. Folk traditionalist Azul will also take the stage, in addition to Juan Tejeda and the Palo Alto Conjunto, and UTSA vice provost Jesse Zapaa. Artist Cruz Ortiz will present a slide-show focusing on San Antonio’s murals. Free, limited seating, 6:30pm Thursday, Buena Vista Theatre, UTSA Downtown Campus, 501 W. Durango.
