Slipknot, Coheed and Cambria, & Trivium

comment
Release Date: 2009-02-25

In one of the strangest tour pairings since Slayer and Marilyn Manson in ’07, special guests Coheed and Cambria join metal masters Slipknot on the Iowa-based ninesome’s largest American tour to date. Come to think of it, Slipknot and Disturbed was a pretty strange pairing for last year’s Rockstar Mayhem Festival, and the Slayer/Manson duo will team up again for this year’s fest. But I digress. Word on the street is that prog-rockers Coheed have kept the energy raging with fierce opening sets for the masked veteran metalheads, relishing the opportunity to get out of their comfort zone and in front of new, eager audiences. The close of 2008 saw Coheed performing four-night stands in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and London as part of their “Neverender” residency series, shows in which the band put the wraps on their conceptual four album series by playing an album per night, in order of release. $34-44, 7:30pm, Freeman Coliseum, 201 E. Houston, (210) 224-9600.
