Artpace debuts a new body of work by Berlin-based artist Jonathan Monk, who transforms Ed Ruscha’s photos of vintage gas stations into a series of painted hoods from muscle cars made in the same era. This should be quite interesting, and not just because it appeals to SA’s “macho-sensitivity” — e.g., like a dude in a Camaro privately weeping upon discovering that Ozzy Osbourne was banned from performing in San Antonio after leaking on the Alamo. Or something like that. For Elaine Wolff’s take on the show, go to page 21. Free, 6:30pm, Artpace, 445 N. Main Ave., (210) 212-4900, artpace.org
