Pop quiz: Which of these is not the name of a band performing at Three Day Throwdown, the White Rabbit’s showcase of the “finest local metal and hardcore bands”? A) Blessed Agony, B) Perish the Land (above), C) Let’s Calmly Discuss Our Feelings. If you’re waiting for the answer, please get the fuck out of town for your own safety, because SA’s got issues that simply cannot be hugged out.
Take Blood of the Damned, for example, which manages to make even a song titled “Dr. Seuss Can Rig This For Us” sound like a recording of the devil’s prostate exam. You only need to hear a few bars of their violent guitar convulsions and swallowed-a-panther vocals to know these dudes have Lorax chunks smeared across the bottom of their steel-toes. For San Antonians, three days of abusing your ears with this stuff is like therapy without all that wussy communication bullshit. $8 per evening/$20 for a three-day pass, 7pm Fri, Jun 5–Sun, Jun 7, the White Rabbit, 2410 N. St. Mary’s, sawhiterabbit.com.
