This is the prequel to the Wizard of Oz, which focuses on the witches, and for good or bad, that’s about all you need to know. Also: it’s won a boatload of Grammy and Tony awards. It’s a spectacle and a behemoth, waiting to bludgeon you with lively ditties. That fact that it’s produced by Universal Pictures should give community-theater types both grief and a laugh. Here’s a cool gimmick: each day, two hours prior to the show, names will be drawn for a limited number of orchestra seats at $25 each, cash only. $35 and up, 2pm & 7:30pm Sunday; Majestic Theatre, 226 E. Houston, San Antonio, (210) 226-3333, majesticempire.com for info and complete show schedule.
