Shot in Germany in 1921, Nosferatu (“A Symphony of Horror”) is essentially an unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. As a precaution, director F.W. Murnau changed the characters’ names, but the story remains the same. Realtor Thomas Hutter travels to Transylvania to sell the vampirish Count Orlock a house in Germany. Upon arrival in Deutschland, the bizarre-looking Orlock becomes fixated on Hutter’s wife, Ellen (and more importantly, her neck). The mysterious sounds of Mombasa Code will accompany the silent film for a classic night of Halloween chills. Free, 8pm, Main Plaza,115 Main Plaza, slabcinema.com
