Alice And The MK-ULTRA Experiment

Release Date: 2010-01-13

The Rose Theatre Co.’s Chris Manley has written a play about a ’50s and ’60s-era covert CIA mind-control mission that caused a handful of deaths, and provoked many a psychotic episode. Typically, unknowing subjects were dosed with LSD (or a cocktail of other drugs), interrogated, and studied. In the play, young college student Alice falls prey to the aggressive testing practices of MK-ULTRA and with her mind “unlocked, discovers a world of intense beauty and wonder.” Knowing Manley’s love of camp and melodrama, the production shouldn’t be quite as terrifying as the actual experiment. $15 preferred seating, $12 general admission, 7:30pm Friday-Saturday, through Jan 30, the Rose Theatre Co., 11838 Wurzbach, (210) 360-0004,
