As a prelude to the Asian Festival — Year of the Tiger (which takes place February 20), the Institute of Texan Cultures is hosting a family day in conjunction with the Taichung City Da Dun Cultural Exchange Exhibition. The exhibition includes more than 100 works of art featured in Da Dun, a program designed to encourage artists to learn from creative exchange and collaboration. The family day includes hands-on activities such as fashioning “kabutos” (warrior hats) and “uchiwas” (fans) out of paper, mini-Chinese lessons based on the Zodiac, as well as live Gu Zheng music, a Taiwanese dance performance, and a Korean fashion show. For details and a full schedule, visit texancultures.com/museum/dadun.html and click on “promotional brochure.” All activities are included in the price of admission. $6-$8, 10am-4pm, Institute of Texan Cultures, 801 E. Durango, (210) 458-2300, texancultures.com
