Even the trailer for Geralyn Pezanoski’s documentary Mine is a tearjerker. The film recounts stories of Hurricane Katrina survivors and the pets many were forced to abandon. As heroic animal-rescue teams save hordes of starving, cherished pets, debates ensue between the original pet owners (many of whom were forcibly removed from their homes) and new adoptive families. Notably, Mine (which focuses on dogs in particular) won the Audience Award at 2009’s SXSW Film Festival. Watch the trailer at minethemovie.com. $5 for non-members, 6:30pm, the McNay’s Chiego Lecture Hall, 6000 North New Braunfels, (210) 824-5368, mcnayart.org
