If Vagabond Swing can’t describe their sound in one word, it’s because their music — inspired by their native Louisiana’s rich musical tapestry — vacillates between ragtime, Afrobeat, rockabilly, swing, and blues. Whether folks in Mobile, Beaumont, or Hattiesburg (three of the stops on VS’s “Warrior Tour”) are ready for the six-piece band’s gypsy-fusion is anyone’s guess. But with a party-friendly style that turns on a dime and an unlikely (but danceable) concoction that incorporates mandolin, fiddle, upright bass, and trumpet, we’re hoping SA’s gypsy population will be wise enough to fire up the old caravan and head to Nightrocker on Thursday night.
