No, we’re not inviting you on an all-expense-paid vacation to Lopburi, Thailand, where greedy macaques gorge themselves on fruit and cake, and wash it all down with cans of soda pop. Sorry. But we do want to tell you about Drunken Monkey’s fourth-annual Monkey Fest, a four-day showcase of local music at three hoppin’ venues. Wednesday’s (Montgomery Wards, In Beds, and Tell the Tale at Limelight) and Thursday’s (Muchos Backflips, Mega Fauna, J. Wesley Haynes Trio, and Opposite Day at the Mix) concerts are both free! And $6 gets you into two musical feasts on Friday (Mojoe, Los De Esta Noche, Big Soy, Blowing Trees, and 35 North at the Limelight; Young Machines, Prevail Within Vs. Id, Of My Redemption, and Blue Means Go at Lava Lounge) or Saturday (Mechanical Walking Robot Boy, Yoshimoto, Budian, Yes, Inferno, and Deer Vibes at Limelight; Dance Like Robots, Accord of Dissonance, the Heavy Feathers, and 100 Hands at Lava Lounge). In Thailand, monkeys are considered heroes (ever since an army of them rescued a god’s wife from the clutches of a demon), so give it up for local bands and the drunken monkey that got them all out of bed to entertain us. span>
